Crewing in the Mug Race
I've got a crew position in the Mug Race May 5th! It's a 38 mile race on the St. Johns River in the Jacksonville, FL area and is being put on by the Rudder Club.
I'll be on a Kaufman 41 (Underwater Secrets), which is a pure racing machine. A 10 ft draft is not what you normally see in the river! It's getting on in years a little, but still a really neat boat. We took it out on a shake-down cruise last Saturday. It was quite breezy and what a hoot! Captain Ron and crew are some fun-lov'n people and it should be a good time for all. Let's hope for lots of wind!
